  • A Great British cover up - GTM Unveil Mitsubishi Evolution 9 Livery for Pikes Peak

GTM is excited to announce that the unique Mitsubishi Evolution 9, custom-built by Dave Rowe of EPS Motorsport, is on its way to Colorado Springs to take part in the legendary Pike's Peak Hill Climb. Dave has achieved his ultimate dream in building the car to take part in the 12.42 mile course with 156 turns and climbing from 9, 390 feet. The car has already featured in Japanese Performance magazine and we expect it to create quite a buzz in Colorado Springs.

After the popularity of our livery designs at the AutoSports Show in 2012, on Dave's show stopping Audi S1 V8 twin turbo which he calls Walter.

"Having been competing in motorsport from a young age and growing up watching Group B rally championships I fell in love with the all mighty Audi Quattro. So after a few late nights I created my take of the Audi S1 and Walter was born (named after the legendary Walter Rohrl). I wanted something with that old.
school feel on the outside and but under the body, filled with all the latest technology. The plan is for the car to be used for Hill Climb events and what ever else tickles my fancy!"

We were really pleased to be working with Dave again on this unique model and we hope you'll agree that the finished article is pretty eye-catching. We began by having a full briefing with Dave so we understood the types of designs he liked and combined this with our own experience and knowledge of Motorsport design. We supplied Dave with three mock-ups of the car to showcase three different styles. We incorporated Dave’s preferred elements of each into the final mock-up for sign-off. We then applied the design to the vehicle , using MetaMark T series high performance Vinyl which give a great satin finish plus a full colour printed vehicle vinyl wrap for the roof and logos to get the finished item which will be displayed to the crowds in Colorado.

ts beauty isn’t just skin-deep obviously. Rather than having the usual 350 bhp, Dave has custom built this with a 2 litre 750bhp engine – all the better for handling the exceptionally tough conditions of the climb which finishes at the 14, 110 foot summit of the American Mountain. As the organisers of the Pike’s Peak Hill Climb put it, “The thin air […] robs engines of 30% of their power at the summit.

Competitors and vehicles must be in top shape to finish…let alone win!”. Our car is certainly going to be put through its paces.

Dave Rowe, Owner EPS Motorsport said, “I’ve been building up to this event ever since I first saw in in 90's and I’ve achieved my dream of building the car specifically for it. It’s been a pleasure to work with GTM on this as they know the Motorsport industry inside out and always come up with the designs that make us look even better. I know it’s a huge challenge but we are most definitely ready for it!”

Owner of GTM, Gerald Taylor, said “We're love working within the Motorsport arena as it is a passion of ours. So our professional designs always go down brilliantly because we know exactly what the crowds want to see – being fans ourselves. Like everything else it's important that Motorsport teams have the right branding – from their trailers to their clothing and we're really pleased to be supporting them in this way.” Find out more about the awesome Pike's Peak Hill Climb here: http://www.ppihc.com/info/
